Pentax Optio P80 Ultra Compact 12 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera
Since the merger with Pentax Jolla in 2007 there were persistent rumors that the company’s Optio line of compact digital cameras will be repealed, freeing resources for development of its portfolio more profitable digital SLR. However, these rumors appear unfounded,at least until now, since new Optio models continue to emerge as the Optio P80,stylish ultra compact 12 megapixel camera with 4x wide angle zoom.

There may be evidence that the development of a compact camera is not as high a priority as it is used for good, because P80 is almost identical to P70 Optio, began earlier this year. The only real improvements are video recording mode, increasing the frequency of images of 1280×720 mode from 15 to 30 fps, and improved face detection/recognition function, which can now detect up to 32 persons and faster.
All other functions of the device remain unchanged, including the 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor and 4x wide angle zoom [equivalent to 27.5-110 mm] and 2.7 inch 230k monitor. The body is identical to that of P70. In the P80 is very flat and compact, by any standard, measurement of 97x 54x 21.5 millimeters and tipping the scales of the ultra light 120 grams with battery and memory card.
The body is aluminum and is available in either silver, metallic green or attractive glossy black finish you see here. The build quality is as good as ever, but since the P70 round type shape is easy to enter safe especially with sweaty fingers. [via TrustedReviews]
