Lenovo USB-Based Virtual DVI Display Link Technology Video Card

Lenovo has quietly launched a USB-based virtual DVI DisplayLink technology video card, which promises up to 1,920 x 1,200 WUXGA output – support for 1080p HD video – through a USB connection. Currently available for $ 129 from its own online store Lenovo, which is a relatively simple way to add one more for your laptop.

Up to six of the adapters can be used on a single computer (three if you have a ThinkPad with switchable graphics), and outputs the native video machines. As with other systems we’ve seen DisplayLink, the Lenovo adapter requires no reboot once connected, supports full rotation (in increments of 90 degrees) and 8 – to 32-bit color depth.

It is also powered from the USB bus, so no need for any additional AC adapter. Remember, however, that the virtual graphics card will have an impact on CPU performance, and that the impact only gets bigger as you add more adapters. [via Thinkpads]
