Garmin Dakota Outdoor GPS Navigation
Garmin on Friday kicked off the launch of a new GPS line. The Dakota 10 and 20 are both small but ruggedized and built to be a simple touchscreen interface borrowed from the high-end Oregon line. It lacks the earlier model of camera but with 850MB of internal memory to hold the same map data as well as waypoints and geocache data synced from a Mac or Windows PC.

The Dakota 10 is the basic model and depend on both internal memory alone and USB store and transfer data. The trade to the Dakota 20 is adding a wireless link to share the data mapping and geocaches with other Garmin devices outside. It also supplies a microSDHC card slot for additional measurement data, such as a barometric altimeter and a magnetometer-based compass to know its bearings require no level.
Either the GPS comes in a worldwide basemap and terrain supports both more detailed soil maps as well as Garmin’s City Navigator NT maps for urban areas. The company was not a price or ship date available. [via electronista]
